Every birthday, Solstice and Equinox the girls had 3 days holidays, where they didn't have to do school work and I didn't have to keep them focused on studies. Lovely way to experience the wheel of the year.
3 days holiday for a birthday was nice, you got to really enjoy time special to you. The solstices and equinoxes we sometimes did a little ritual to mark the event, where we would cleanse the house with incense and water a candle light and chant "blessed be, blessed be transformation of energy" or "purify me, purify me, purify me Goddess when we all do love each other, then the purifying's done". The girls loved walking around the house with elemental items cleansing the space, we danced, sang and rejoiced in the moment.
Sometimes we would study how cultures and other people around the world celebrated the time of the year and do activities symbolic to that time of the year. Yule was the main festival we celebrated along with Halloween the girls love dressing up and knocking on all the neighbours doors tick or treating. At Yule tide after banishing, cleansing and opening the circle, we would address the season and have the girls run around the house turning off all the lights, we would sing the "wheel is turning, the light is returning". Then the girls would run around the house turning All the lights on. Wonderful fun to bring in the new year and feel connected to life.
