Hatha Yoga
The physical practice of Yoga based on Pranayama (the science
of the breath) Hatha Yoga refers to the HA-breath of the sun (through the
right side of the body) and the THA-breath of the moon (through the left side of
the body) in harmonious balance. The word "Yoga" means to yoke or join
together. Physical postures help harmonize the breathing process.
The practice of yoga postures (ASANAS)
aims to open and purify the energy centers (CHAKRAS)
and energy channels (NADIS).

Be a lion, kneel with hands on knees, tighten
face, then roar like a lion, or stretch the tongue
out to the chin. Be a lion.
Be a bow and arrow, my two year old likes this one, lye on your stomach and pull your arms back
to your feet, rock. Pull your head back, feel the
stretch.
Stand like a tree, feet together, straight
spine, breathe with the trees, nice to do out
side. Breathe feel the energies of the earth in your feet, rooted, sucking up the life force
into your self, stretching out your branches,
feel the currents round you, feel as a tree.
Balanced well rooted, strong. home to life.
Be a fish, sit with your feet on either side
of your bottom, bottom on the ground, then lye back. raise your hands above your head in a
diamond shape. feel the pull and currents like
water waving through you.

Be a snake lye on your stomach, legs together,
hands either side of your shoulders, then pull
back poking your tongue out down to your chin.
Sit crossed legged and roll your head slowly round, chin to chest, left ear to left shoulder,
back, right ear to right shoulder, chin to
chest..... then rotate in the other direction.
Arm are rested on knees or lap.
Be a mouse roll body into a little ball and
roll around the floor.
Be a cow try to touch hands behind your back.
with one arm over your shoulder and the other
behind creeping up. change position with your
arms. Keeping your stretches balanced. I'm
not sure why that asana is called a cow.
After a few stretches always end with a still pose, such as the mouse or
corpse. Lye on your back, arms to your sides palms up. Imagine
yourself floating like a cloud. When ready slowly sit up.
When doing Asana's it is important to not tense your body, but hold each posture
as still and quiet listening to the feelings within. Move on the out
breath. Keeping a straight
spine, body balanced. It is best to get a
book on the subject to do it right and well.
But remember to have fun and don't stress
yourself. The idea is be flexible and balanced.
