Trees

Picture is Roger creek park near where we lived

Middle English, from Old English Treow: akin to Old Norse tre tree, Greek drys, Sanskrit daru wood.

Trees are the tallest and oldest living things on earth.

A tree is far more than its dictionary meaning: a woody perennial plant having a single usually elongate main stem generally with few or no branches on its lower part.  A tree is one of the great natural gifts, a gift that inspires the souls of poets and writers, that re-knits human nerves frayed by the pressures of society.  We are indebted to trees not only for their contribution to our world's beauty, but for their great contribution to our comfort and well-being  - for the homes we live in, the chairs we sit on, the pencils we write with, the books we read.
