Poor Me
by Thelema Khuit
grade 6

I saw the strangest thing in the sky last night I saw a bird wearing a pair of glasses with two small suit cases under
it wings, and behind it was what looked like a butterfly with a stick shooting sparkles out at the birds butt tail. I was
too shocked to get my camera. I just stood there looking out my window, eyes glued to the scene. I could see below
on the ground a bunch of people with cameras taking pictures. Then the thing that looked like a butterfly did a
circle with the stick over the people below. The people stopped taking pictures and started walking away, as if in a
daze, unaware of the scene above them.
I moved into the shadows so the butterfly thing didn't see me and continued to watch the two disappear into the
branches of the pear tree in my back yard.
I tiptoed really quietly outside to the tree, placed my ear to the tree's trunk and heard strange voices I didn't understand.
Then something tapped my toe, looking down I saw a very little green man with a green hat. I realized the
more he tapped I began to shrink. I couldn't move to get a way from the little green man; it was like I was frozen.
When I was his size he smiled at me and said "Greetings humanoid, follow me". So I followed the smiling green
man into the tree, took a ride on a bark boat in the sap of the tree, it was like a roller coaster except in slow motion.
The ride took us to the very top where what I thought was a butterfly was really an angry fairy. She was waving her
wand dangerously at the bird. The bird was trying to grab it with its beak. The green man sat down and laughed
and laughed. Apparently the bird had tried to make a nest on the fairies bed, with the fairy still in it. The little
green man covered in tears from laughter jumped on the birds back and flew off. The fairy turned to me red in the
face waved her wand and flew off after the green man. Poor me I was left in the tree.

(This was the limit of words I was allowed to write for the competition.  It was so much fun writing the story I just had to continue it... so read on....)

I could not believe it they left me in the tree. Then there was a tap at the fairies window there was the the fairies wand. I opened the window and the wand flew in, it started to write something...

To get back to your right size you have go through 4 quests
you must find the trees where the fruit grow sweet
under the bush where the berries are pink

Then the wand went back out the window the words still floating in mid air.   Find the trees... what trees? I said to myself.
Someone or something said "Mmmmm, this is good!"  I looked out of the window there were 2 deer eating the grass.  One looked up at me, bit an apple off a tree and munched happily.  then I realized that I was not in by back yard I was in a forest i could just see across a river was a bush with pink berries. Now all I had to do was find a way out of the tree. then i saw it a little door then someone said I wouldn't go that way if I were you! it was a childless voice I  saw it was a little fairy in what looked like a a peer of pajamas!

still working on it sorry...
